Say hello to Gareth McAlister, the fellow who’s made 151 starts with a grand total of two wins and enough on-track incidents to earn him a personal ban from most insurers. After 18 seasons of teetering between rare podium glory and utter mid-pack torment, he still manages to cling to a respectable 2309 iRating – presumably through sheer stubbornness. With an average result around 12th, McAlister has become an unwitting ambassador for endearing mediocrity, losing about a spot every race yet refusing to quit. Judging by his dogged refusal to stay down, don’t be surprised if this perennial underdog claws his way back onto the top step before long.
